The Churchill Group is celebrating raising a grand total of £72,708 for Macmillan Cancer Support in 2023 by taking part in the charity’s Coffee Morning campaign and other fundraising activities for the 14th year running. Churchill has a special relationship with Macmillan Cancer Support and has now raised over £730,000 for the charity since 2009.
Apartment Owners and Colleagues up and down the country supported the charity’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in 2023 by hosting coffee mornings, cake sales, bake-off competitions and raffles to help support Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event of the year. A team of intrepid Colleagues took on a ‘Mighty Hike’ in September, raising further crucial funds to support people affected by cancer. The Company also donated £5 for every new Customer who attended its Macmillan Coffee Mornings at new developments across the country.
Concorde Lodge in Bristol raised the most for an individual development, with an impressive total of £2,451. Other top fundraisers who deserve a special mention are Greenacres Lodge in Warlingham (£2,331), Gidea Lodge in Romford (£2,321), and Beatrice Lodge in Sittingbourne (£2,306).
Further funds were also raised through a Grand Prize Draw run by the firm’s own charity, the Churchill Foundation. Colleagues took part for the chance to win an amazing array of prizes donated by some of the Company’s generous Business Partners.
The money raised is enough to pay for a Macmillan nurse for one whole year (actual cost £64,499) and much more to help people living with cancer and their families receive essential medial, practical and emotional support.
Lisa Sainsbury, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, said:
“We are so grateful for the long-standing commitment of the Churchill group and appreciate the time, effort and generosity that goes into hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning. Yet again, the team have impressively put on many different activities to fundraise for Macmillan. The incredible amount they’ve raised is helping us with our vital work to support people affected by cancer.
“The number of people being diagnosed with cancer is increasing every year and that means Macmillan’s support for people living with cancer is in more demand than ever. At Macmillan, we know how cancer can affect everything. We’re here to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, but we can’t do it without the amazing people like Churchill’s owners and colleagues who fundraise for us.”
Clinton McCarthy, MD and Co-Founder of Churchill Retirement Living, added:
“It was great to see everyone taking part once again in our Macmillan fundraising in 2023, and I’m very proud of the total amount raised. The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning events are a fantastic way to bring our Colleagues, apartment Owners and local communities together whilst raising money for a very deserving cause. I’d like to give my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved for helping us to raise such an impressive total yet again this year.”
